The Quinta dos Lagos garden has been a historic reference point since its ambitious designer first made it in 1907. Beyond the historic house, a garden unfolds shaped by imagination, history, and nature.
At Quinta dos Lagos 1907, a distinctive landscape is being carefully brought back to life, preserving its character while allowing it to evolve. Having been in the family for now 30 years, this generation has begun the arduous task of bringing the garden back to its former splendour.
A Gardeners Book-keeping
We have had the absolute pleasure of researching and having met the previous owners, and descendants all the way back to the start of this garden. As a good gardener always does, each has documented the changes they made, one way or another. Although a lot has been lost, we count ourselves lucky that the Quinta always attracted owners with quite the green-thumb.
Today, we take everything in and have begun the life-long project of creating and reviving on top of the beautiful foundation of this garden.
We welcome visits to tell the story of this Estate, showcase its unique Gardens but also to show the process of what it takes to restore, plant, and maintain a formal garden in Sintra.
As the new Patrons of the Quinta, we are a young couple building a family home, maintaining a small piece of Sintra’s heritage, and doing our little bit to keep its magic alive for another generation to enjoy.
